happy goat year :)

when valentines coincides with each other

今年西方情人节(2月14日),
也是中国的民间元宵节(农历正月十五)。
这一重合,19年才出现一次。
上一次是1995年,我们还小。
下一次是2033年,我们已老。

这个情人节,很重要。

trot trot trot trot

Hello again. Just to pen off a few resolutions for the year:

- To persevere through and complete my last sem of studies
- To spend more quality time with my family
- To get more organised with my stuffs etc
- To slower down my pace a little so that i dont overlook/mislook things often
- To simmer down my temper and be really kind and polite to everyone
- More contribution, less destruction
- To lose weight
- To be more self-reliant with regained positivity

And only now this thought cross my mind. Should i just amend my wishlist. Gahhhhh!

马力全开

Happy Chinese New Year! The water snake is out and the galloping horse is here. It seems like it's going to be a good year (though not really so for someone of dragon) with lots of double happiness around: double valentine, double lunar month etc in which such occurrences are once in few decades.

Nevertheless, may it be a good year for everyone and your loved ones: good health, much happiness and great success! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

so, the journey begins...

Similar to many Chinese, I don't have a natural incline towards the figure '4' all this while really. Ironically, throughout my period of study, almost half of the time my allocated student number is 4 due to my surname. In uni, my student ID horribly manifested a double '4's. And membership cards, club cards, quite often, they have a '4' in it. Thankfully, I still pass my exams and enjoy my school time throughout.

The 2013/2014 transition had definitely been a very unique one for me. And now, with the new year, a new chapter, or even a new life begins.

So dear number 4, pls continue to make your wonders and magic =)

international friendship day

Last two Tuesdays, the world celebrated International Friendship Day, but it probably came and went without much notice. If you do some research, you will be quite amazed at the many interesting days that have been designated by the United Nations. International Friendship Day, for example, only came about in 2011 after many years of lobbying by various groups.

I like this quote posted by one of my friends on Facebook recently – “Good friends care for each other. Close friends understand each other. And true friends stay forever. Beyond words, beyond time.”

Although Facebook is one channel where people can boast of having hundreds or thousands of friends, the reality is that our true friends probably can be counted on one hand, or at the most, two, whether we want to admit it or not.

In our busy world, friendship is always put to the test when we are not able to give our time to people. Is an office meeting more important than visiting a friend at the hospital? Would you give up a power lunch with the Who’s Who of Corporate Malaysia to lend a pair of listening ears and a shoulder to cry on to a colleague who has just lost his son in a fatal accident?

You should count yourself very blessed if you have a few such true friends. And better still, if you are counted as one of such true friends to others.

the mayan calendar

With the environmental footprint nowadays, I do believe the earth may vanish one day, but i doubt that it would be this year, and on the 21st. And now, the million dollar question: How would you spend the last day of the year?

Yes, spend all your money. Money does not leave with us.
Yes, spend quality time with the most important people in your life.
No, do not sleep. It would be everlasting sleep after the end of the world.
Yes, u can run. Run to prolong the time available for you as much possible.
No, you dont hv to be afraid. No one with be left out.
Yes, u think. U think of the past, the present, the future.
Yes, u appreciate. You appreciate things given to you, and you try not to leave with any regrets.

On the other hand, nonetheless, should that materialises, it would be a magnificient event that every earth occupant shall experience. Which generation would be the lucky one?

santa claus is coming to town (again)

It feels like time has passed so hurriedly fastly and Christmas is around the corner again. The trees are up, the songs are humming, the gifts are in stock. Putting aside nx year resolutions, let's hope for the best excitment, joy and fun to come in these two last weeks. Fingers crossing**

Christmas is not lovely without gifts and wishes, it's time for hunting! Merry christmas in advance everyone =)

it's our very first anniversary

First and foremost, i hope i didn get the date wrong.
Regardless of our first encounter which wasnt really impressive,
we ve finally came hand in hand to complete our first year.

Many actually asked if i would leave u somehow.
I dont know honestly. It depends really.
As we grow i realise lots of decision-making are interdependent.

But i know, i wouldnt have been me without you.
You ve been a good mentor, both personally and professionally.
Thank you for moulding the little childish young teen into who she is today.

Happy 1st Anniversary.

may the 1st

Hoping to get some insight on Labour Day,
i realised that despite being an international occasion,
diff countries celebrate it on different dates during the year.

Anyhow, im grateful that we have a 'labour day',
Esp when it comes just on time for a break =)

ps: Ironically, my colleague asked why are students given school holiday when labour day shud only be meant for labour.

make a difference this month

While i may be sometimes disenchanted with the system etc in Malaysia, and may not have came across as overly Malaysian, the sense of camaraderie was cultivated with fellow Malaysians overseas. We love Malaysian food, we speak for Malaysia, and we get excited when Malaysia is mentioned in the news.

There are still lots of ways to contribute to our nation, whether big or small.

Here's your chance to turn things around.

Contribute as little as RM15 to conserve 50sq m area (size as a car porch) within the 34000ha Sabah Malua rainforest. The contribution can be paid within minutes through http://www.protectmalua.com/. In just few clicks, we can easily help to maintain this precious natural habitat that the animals call it home =)

the day of where mooncakes and lanterns come in

Happy mooncake festival! Seriously i think after so many years, eventually i get to celebrate the mid-autumn festival back at home. It usually clashes with my term recommencement. Thanks to the beauty of chinese calendar this year.

There's a chinese saying "月圆花好" (if the moon's round, the flower's blooming) indicating the importance of having the full moon on the nite of mid-autumn festival. Hereby i wish everyone 家好月圆 (well-united family as per the round moon) and hv a nice celebration. Eat ur mooncakes (though it's getting more n more expensive year by year which is crazy), hold ur lanterns, cherish the time with ur loved ones =) Since angry bird's leading the trend now, i shall present u the angry bird lanternsssss ^^

to the man who loves me most

If only im by your side now, i would get you one of these and gv u a big big hug!
Thank you for everything that you provide daddy!

Mummy told me that u used to spoil us terribly because u believe that,
in the event that we r faced with circumstances in future,
at least we had a memorably, enjoyable and joyous childhood.
At that moment, im thankful, im glad, im touched.

Daddy, for this year's occasion,
I wish to give u a cheerful daughter that u ll be proud of and not worry abt.
May u stay happy, healthy (and hopefully wealthy =p ) always!
HAPPY  FATHER'S  DAY!

Sunday, 8 May 2011

dear mummy, i definitely hv no courage to tell u these..

When i wasnt even 1, you carried me like a mother kangaroo for abt 9 months.
When i was 3, you tied different hairstyles for me so that i look like a little princess.
When i was 5, you caned me for bullying my new-born sis n keeping rice in my mouth.
When i was 6, you nodded when i wanted to learn piano which was a luxurious hobby.
When i was 7, you taught tis banana girl mandarin until she understood her teachers.
When i was 9, you hurriedly rush me to the clinic when i was stung by a bee.
When i was 12, you allowed me to choose my own school though u preferred convent.

When i was 13, you slipped a letter under my door when i locked myself in my room.
When i was 16, you drove me to school 630 in the morning from monday to friday.
When i was 17, you shopped all day juz to search for a pair of shoes for my performance.
When i was 18, you told me i shudnt drive out of anger cuz it's vry dangerous n worrying.

When i was 19, you supported me all the way thru when i was in the worst of my life.
When i was 20, you sent me off to uk to pave me a better future and life experience.
When i was 21, you told me no more 'pinky' stuffs and i hv to behave like a mature.
When i was 22, you hid from me tat granny's life at stake so that i can focus in my exams.

And now, im 23, but you are still doing everything you could as a mother, in fact, more n more everyday! I know i ve not done enough as a daughter. Im sorry for every bad that i've done and for every word that ached u. Thank you for everything that you've provided me with, showered me with, spoilt me with, forgiven me for and taught me about.
I Lv you mummy! ♥

Last but not least, also for all the mothers out there:

ps: Btw I've not been such a last minute b4:
Carnations delivery                 - TOO LATE
Handmade & handwritten card - TOO LATE
Parcel from UK                        - TOO LATE
Likely feasible solution: to borrow daddy's & sis' effort to buy my gift on behalf  =D
