fabulous mnite

Hey good morning. Happy chap goh mei!! Had a lovely evening yesterday with our msian nite.. This year's theme's puteri hang li po, revolving around her loneliness and despair when she came to malacca and married sultan mansur shah (still rmb ur sejarah?? hmm.. i doubt so..)
To kick off, that's our new SU building, built upon millions of pounds.. It's definitely better than the former building when i first came to warwick, but im sure areas for improvement when more restaurants or activity rooms could be put into..
Sat with ezzah and her bruneian friends for dinner. Dinner was a 3 course meal, with 'ar-chat' as starter and rice with rendang and chicken. For dessert, we had kebab as well as pisang goreng (which was really good!! But everyone is only entitled for one)..Gosh.. I really love this photo :DManaged to catch shin li (who's busy serving and ushering the VIPs) and got her into our photo.. SHe looked fine in her traditional costume right =) Tat's the stage! The event began with the national anthem. I cant describe my feelings when i listened to our familiar, old 'Negaraku'.. Honestly, I was pretty touched when the rhythm of 'Negaraku' filled up the entire hall. Hmm.. It's like something that all us, the msians, share, at the same thing sthing that distinguished our identity from others.. Hoohoo, emo emo** The above picture was our band crew, while the pic below was the opening dance..Our awesome spectacular dikir barat team.. If u stil rmb, i was in there performing last year! This year's dikir is absolutely so much challenging than last years, there were so much more movements and it was slightly longer than ours i think.. The round of applause proved that your hours of practice were definitely worthwhile, my fellow msians!!

Dont really like grp projects though.. To get a time to suit everyone is already an uphill struggles, what more to make decisions on the basis of different opinions and disagreements.. Anyway, tat's ow we developed teamworking as well :D

Happy Chinese New Year again!! Well, it's a snowing CNY over here. Yesterday was absolutely a horrid. It took me 2.5hours to reach home from uni: 40 minutes waiting for the bus, and almost 2 hours in the bus.

The entire area was simply so conjested, with the cars almost not moving at all. I wonder why werent there any traffic police on duty to help divert the traffic, as in Malaysia. But anyway, i still regard myself fortunate enough as firstly, i managed to squeeze onto the bus (i saw a whole queue of disappointed faces along arts center), secondly, i managed to get a seat on the bus! I foresee that i might faint if i were to stand in the overcrowded bus for almost 2 hours with a ravenous stomach. The 3rd fortune was tat i arrived home safely in the end. Then the 4th fortune i ve had pasta in my fridge as my dinner. Ultimately, i was fortunately enough not to take a cab home when i was so fed up waiting for the bus. Otherwise the taxi meter will be ticking until it burns my pocket due to traffic jam. So i think my encounter wasnt utterly horrible, compared to others. Indeed, it was a 'special experience' in a positive perspective :)
Back to cny again, thanks to my fm who accompanied throughout the festive season since my family were in seremban, and there's no internet in seremban, unless one day grandma knows how to check 4D results thru internet. Hehe.. It was pretty boring particularly when there's no angpau to receive over here. N imagine your family and friends gathering and reuniting happily together on the other part of the globe. Anyway, my fm was very good in a way they got some celebs to share their experience with World Vision while visiting some 3rd world or less developed countries. One of the most impressive one was the visit to nepal by 'zhou hui min'.

I know im far too fortunate compared to them. N what more, im studying abroad which is a dream of many people! But im impressed in a way that they do not give up despite they were borned in such living condition. Their determination to live is something that we should learn.
Therefore, i ve decided to sign up for the child sponsorship! Although i do not hv earning power now, i still hv bit savings, or i can share it out with my family members :) N i would really wish to start now, as starting earlier means more children benefiting earlier. It's a long term project, but it's a very meaningful one.. Imagine your contribution of perhaps one decent meal, one pretty dress, or even one of your hair sessions is sufficient to be significant to just fulfill their basic necessities. It isnt difficult isnt it? N you can always write to child to get to know him/her, or buy him/her some gifts.. Sharing what we have with ppl, that's the best 'gift'! U should give away things that u really like as a gift rite.. not things that u dont like or u wish to get rid of(although most people do it that way)..

Im starting off my project.. Pending approval from family.. but im sure they wouldnt disallow their daughter doing charity.. This year's cny wil gonna be meaningful!! ^-^

my valentine

The main reason i separated this post with yesterday's dinner was bcuz i think tis definitely worth an independent post by its own. N since it's a valentine gift, it seems more appropriate to post it during feb the 14th..

So tis was the valentine gift i received yesterday nite. From my 'admirers'.. First and foremost, say 'hello' to everyone little teddie :) It was indeed a very very huge suprise and as it was totally out of my expectation, and because it was valentine's day!! A big bunch of 'Thank You' to my two forever-caring-and-supportive housemates, also my best mates in uni -- Miss Juan Ying & Miss Shin Li =P
On one hand i felt bad tat i was careless enough of not getting a gift for them, although i shud hv learnt that lesson during christmas.. But on the other hand, i know they will receive my cny card, which has been scheduled to be sent out tis morning.. But still, i know i shud hv gotten them a gift nevertheless..

And coincidently, the teddie was tagged 'key to the heart', in which complemented my bedsheet which is 'you have the key to my heart' perfectly.. See, they are so compatible.. xDWelcome little teddie :)

the nite before woohoo year

So we trekked down to the newly-opened cosmo for our cny reunion dinner after being excited for it for almost a week!

Compared to other chinese restaurants, i would say cosmo is the best amongst all i ve tried. The variety of food was fantastic. In terms of asian food, they hv tom yam soup, char-siu, duck meat, dim sum, noodles, crackers, naan bread; in terms of japanese, they hv teppanyaki, sushi and soba noodles; in terms of italian they have pastas; in terms of western they hv onion rings, mussels, fries, salad etc etc.. The best thing was indeed the desserts!! They were so pretty and colourful, forming a picturesque. Slices of cakes were as if queueing up to be 'selected' by u, and the jellies were absolutely so attractive and cute!

I know tat 'a picture worths a thousand words', but photography of food isnt allowed. So i could only resort to describe the food and the environment to the best of my ability. However, the only thing that actually disappoint me was actually the attitude of the staffs. Probably they were really busy, but hey it was chinese new year!! :)

Luckily the company compensates more than required for the disappointment. Thx to zhong, korine, yit tze and pamela for joining us for the dinner, adding more cheers on the supposed-to-be-spent-with-family reunion dinner. It was really enjoyable to hang out with u girls.. hopefully we ll spend more time together in future (hope u guys read tis..) =P

In fact, he commented tat since he's already staying with 3 female housemates.. so tis is just a little more than usual.. xD The awesome but definitely 'adds-weight' dinner was then followed by a short walk around city centre, and eventually to chicken cottage for take-away (because pinkiecloud has deeply fallen in love with chicken cottage's grilled chicken). Back at home, it was another tea-session where the S.H.E sat together around the table talking and chattin thru the nite. It was never dull to spend time with my two lovely housemates :)

The clock strucked 12 and it's officially cny in uk now.. Happy chinese new year to everyone! Has been sitting in front the laptop customising cny ecards to send out my greetings yesterday. For those who received ecards from pinkiecloud, hope you like it; for those who has not, u r not forgetten.. GONG XI FA CAI. XIN NIAN KUAI LE, and may the little woohoo year blessed u with happiness, joy, health, peace and wealth. Also thx to those who sent me cny wishes. tats very sweet of u all. Oh wait, n HAPPY VALENTINES DAY too! I got a suprise valentine gift today, but i ll tell u bout it tmrw?

Well well well.. It's pinkie chef here again.. :D

This is the 'dry veg ribs soup' i tried out few days ago by following the note mum wrote for me. It was really nice and sweet.. Especially during cold winter like tis, it keeps me warm and healthy. Unfortunately mummy only 'granted' me a small packet which was only sufficient to cook for 4 meals, which i finished off in one ago.. Nvm, i shall bring more when im back nx time :) If you still remember on that status i posted on my fb last 2 weeks bout my fish, here it is. I basically marinate the fish with salt and soy sauce, and because pinkie is a curry/spicy lover, i added some belacan onto it as well. Kept them in the fridge overnight for best outcomes!! When you want to eat them, simply bake them in the oven for about 20 mins, then ur 'ikan bakar' is ready to be consumed.. Secret hints: If u hv 'khat chai', it would be exactly like msia ikan bakar ade :D :D :D :D

Just wanted to post a little birthday shout-out to the greatest mum in the world who has never fail to take care, love and support everyone in the family. She's the most hardworking member in the family, spending most time managing every big and small matter in the house. When we are hungry, she would still prepare food for us, even if it's middle at nite; when we need help in art/craft work, she would definitely help us (to complete it); when we are bitten by mosquitoes, she would dash to the drawer and apply medicine on our bites; when we are burning the midnite oil, she would sit (or sleep) beside us to show her company and support; when we are stil sleeping in the morning, she's already in the market buying a variety of our favourite breakfasts..

At the same time, she's my lifetime teacher who teaches me everything, from 1,2,3 to X,Y,Z; from when i did not know mandarin at all when i go to primary to i slowly grasp what my form teacher was teaching until i can read, speak and write mandarin well; from me being ignorant and rebellious to a more caring and kind sister; from a clumsy girl who nearly failed to survive in uk to an independent 21-year-old that is able to cook, manage household matters; and most importantly, who gave me a warm shoulder and lifting hand whenever i fell down. Without her, i wouldnt be who i am now.

Tat's pinkie mummy n little-ugly-pinkie when she was baby.. :) Mum im sorry that i am not there to share the cut-caking moment this year. But im sending u my best wishes and greetings all the way from uk to our home sweet home. May mummy stays healthy, happy, pretty, young and sweet always.
