Was testing joy her peribahasas today. I realised nowadays students study so much more compared to us in the past!! Impressive!! Well, that’s not the key point. There’s something that joy brought up which lit up a question in my mind as well. Why must they sort of ‘blame’ or ‘accuse’ the animals in their peribahasas? U ll probably understand better when I present a few examples:
a. seperti katak di bawah tempurung – The frog is borned to be under the well, why must this imply that the frog is stupid? What an innocent frog.. =P
b. bagai murai tercabut ekor – The murai is simply a normal bird. Why must people make it the most talkative bird (mulut murai)?? Pity murai with the sad title..
c. bagai rusa masuk ke kampung – This is funny. I guess the deer does not react anything when it enters any villages, or even any farms. Why must people ‘imagine’ that it will act like a clumsy stranger?
d. bagai tikus membaiki labu – Haha, the mouse is not supposed to know how to repair a pumpkin! Hence, what’s the underlying meaning? Without reason the mouse is accused to worsen a situation..
e. bagai anjing dengan kucing – Are you sure that dogs and cats really fight when they see each other :)
U see?? :D
